No Flowers But Less Snow-- How's That For a Title?

So this blog is going to mostly be about playing catch up with pictures...

Jon's a good Daddy

There was a father-daughter dance at the kids' school, and Jon took off a few hours from work so he could come home early and take Leila. He even stopped and picked up some flowers to give her. So sweet-! Leila wore her flower girl dress that she had gotten for Susan's wedding-- it still fits fine. Emma could have gone too but apparently is of an age when dressing up and hanging out with Dad for a night didn't sound as interesting as listening to music and texting her friends.

Leila turned six at the beginning of April. Her good friend Jenna came over and stayed the night, and Saturday we had a small party for her at McDonald's. Besides Jenna, Jonathan and Alicia came to McDonald's play land with their three kids. We had a typical kids' party with cake... all the kids got quite a work out, climbing and chasing each other. The next day we went to Grandma Jane's for a much more quiet family party with her.

Ayla, Gabe, and Jackson joined Leila for birthday fun at McDonald's.

The cuteness continues.

She lost her first teeth! The bottom 2.

Later in April, my stepson Jonathan turned 30. We didn't actually see him on the day, but we'll see him later this weekend (for a mysterious event that cannot yet be discussed-- :).

Emma has been busy with basketball and Destination Imagination-- she had a tournament for both of them last weekend! Jon was busy driving her back and forth between events at Wausau and Stevens Point. Right now they are at a basketball tournament in Menomonie.

Meanwhile, around here, there are signs of spring. Among them are the baby animals being born at our neighbor Johnne's farm...

Our baby calf!

New life on the farm
Baby goat
Jon said this little black goat that was just born is indescribably cute. Leila and I will visit later today

One exciting thing we have coming up is a trip to Kentucky, the first week of May. We're going to visit Susan, Jay, and hopefully David and Logan too. This visit will be a chance to see how the big kitchen re-model is turning out. We've seen some renovation pictures on the internet, so have an idea what to expect...

For the kitchen re-model in Kentucky, things had to be stripped down to the bone and completely re-done
Goodbye, old floor!

Unfinished but distinctly more modern-looking

So lots going on!
